Design online - process

You have two options for your perfect personalised print product:

1.) Upload finished print data directly

You can easily upload finished print data (e.g. PDF or images). Or you can design your very own design directly on our website using our online design tool.

2.) Create your own design template with our free software.

In our design tool you will find a large selection of professional designs for various print products. You can customise the templates to suit your needs. Of course, you can also upload your own logos or images to customise your design. If you want the same look for different products, you can simply use the same design for the different product templates.

What do I have to pay particular attention to when designing?

Please pay attention to:

  • Correct spelling of your texts
  • Sharp display of your images (300 dpi & CMYK colour space)
  • Optimal readability of all content
  • Filling the overprint area for borderless printing (area between label and dashed line)

What do I have to pay particular attention to when designing certain materials?

There are currently three materials that you need to take care of when designing:

  • Transparent film
  • Kraft paper
  • Silver foil

When designing online, you can either upload a PDF / image (jpg or png) or use a template.

Transparent film

If you have chosen the transparent film, the designer will display a gray and white checkerboard pattern as the background and represent the transparent background of the label.

If you upload a PDF or logo with a white or coloured background and put the image over the label, the checkerboard pattern is covered. As soon as the checkerboard pattern is no longer visible, this area is printed and the transparency is no longer given. In order to only print what you really want, you have to deposit your files with a transparent background in an image editing program. Image formats such as png or PDF are suitable for this.

As soon as the chessboard is visible in the background after you have uploaded the files, you have a clear / transparent background for your labels.

With transparent labels, you always have to pay attention to the background on which the labels are applied, as the background shines through.

For example, if you apply transparent labels with black writing on a red wine bottle, the background of the red wine bottle shines through so strongly that you can no longer read the writing.

Kraft paper

If you have chosen the kraft paper, the designer will display a kraft-coloured (natural brown) pattern as the background and represent the kraft paper material.

If you upload a PDF or logo with a white or coloured background and put the image over the label, the kraft paper background will be covered. However, please keep in mind that your design will be printed on a brownish material.

If your design contains white text elements, you must create white as the special colour opaque white.

White printing is included and at no additional cost.

Silver foil

With the silver foil, a silver pattern is shown as the background and represents the silver foil material.

If you upload a PDF or logo with a white or coloured background and put the image over the label, the silver background is covered. However, please keep in mind that your design will be printed on a silver foil material.

If your design contains white text elements, you must create white as the special colour opaque white.

White printing is included and at no additional cost.

What file formats can I upload?

We prefer PDF as the format for the print data. Alternatively, you can also upload images in the formats JPG, JPEG and PNG. Since only graphic formats are permitted, we ask you not to upload any Word files. Here you will find further information on the delivery of print data.

For all files, please ensure that the quality of your output data is sufficiently high (300 dpi) to ensure perfect printing. You can recognise that the data quality is too low by the yellow smiley symbol when you click on your graphic in the design tool.

What are overprint area, bleed, edge and protection zone?

That sounds like technical terms! They are easy to understand and very useful if you have your products printed after your design process.

Overprint area / bleed

A bleed is the part of your design that will be cut away after your print product is the right size. The goal is to have your design or your images borderless across the entire surface to avoid visible white edges.

Please position your content / areas completely in the overprint area so that we can guarantee a quality print, ie create the bleed as overprint.

Edge

This is the final edge of your product after the bleed has been cut away.

Protection zone

This is the area within the edge of the finished product. This protection zone is kept away from blades and cutting machines. It is therefore ideal for placing the content of your design here. Everything else outside of this zone is at risk of being simply cut away!

Can I upload CMYK images?

Yes, our online design tool supports the two colour spaces RGB and CMYK. We recommend CMYK.

What is the maximum file size I can upload?

The maximum file size that you can upload is 15 MB.

What resolution must my pictures have?

To get an optimal end result, you should use image resolutions of at least 300 DPI. For line art, the resolution should be 1200 dpi.

Can I save my designs?

Yes. After you have created your user account, you can save your design. You can view, edit and re-order your designs at any time by clicking on "My designs" in your user account.

How can I ensure that the ink used on my product is correct?

We try everything to achieve a colour match as true to the original as possible with your uploaded images. Our terms and conditions contain more precise details regarding layout and colour fastness. To the terms and conditions. Here you will also find important information on data delivery.

Can I use my own logos, graphics or photos?

Naturally! You can easily upload your pictures or graphics to Avery WePrint â„¢ in the design tool. With the practical tools in the tool, you can also cut, reposition or rotate them.

The colour of my labels is not the same as on the screen. Why is that?

This is probably because you send us RGB data (red-green-blue colour space). We recommend that you send your data as CMYK, since we use the same process colours cyan, magenta, yellow (yellow) and key colour (black) in the printing process. Please note that the colours on the screen can often deviate from the original colour, especially if the screen is not calibrated.

How do I know that my material is the right one?

With our product catalogue we cover a wide range of applications. But of course it is not always obvious which configuration is best for your print product. For more information about the materials we use, we recommend that you take a look at the materials area . Our tip: We also offer small quantities at favourable conditions - from just € 11.90 (incl. VAT, plus shipping). This gives you the opportunity to test the product for your application directly.

How do I know that my selected measurements are the right ones?

All specified product dimensions are based on width x height in millimetres. For design, you can also switch the orientation between portrait and landscape format in the online editor.

How does the configurator work with the WePrint print service?

The configurator simplifies the selection and price calculation of your print product. Find the right product for you by filtering, for example, by shape (rectangular, square, etc.), size, material (transparent or white film or white paper) and protective varnish (glossy or matt finish). You can then either select a specified quantity or enter it individually according to your wishes and you will immediately receive your price offer.

How many labels are on a sheet and how many sheets do I get delivered?

Depending on the label format you selected, there is a certain number of labels on a sheet of A4.

The amount of A4 sheets you receive with your delivery depends on the label size and the quantity ordered. If you urgently need this information, please do not hesitate to contact our customer service, either by email to [email protected], or by phone at 0800 805020.

Are there labels in individual sizes?

Our printing service offers labels in individual sizes for printed labels on sheets and adhesive films in the shapes rectangular, round, square and oval.

For all four shapes, you can flexibly determine the format from a minimum size of 10 mm and enter it in the configurator.

Your advantage: There are no additional costs for you when you select individually entered formats for you!

For special requests, please contact our customer service either by email to [email protected], or by phone at 0800 805020.

Can I still label or print the WePrint labels afterwards?

We advise against subsequent labelling with your own printer and do not accept any guarantee if damage occurs.

Labelling by hand is possible for labels without a protective varnish. Labels without protective varnish are available for the following materials: white paper, white outdoor film, removable paper.
