Start like Stan!
We think our founder (Stan) has a legendary start up story, a true entrepreneurial dream. Aged 28, Stan had a BIG idea, a $100 loan and some old parts from a washing machine. From this humble start point and little more than an idea, he went on to create the modern label and create a new industry!
90 years later, the industry he created created is thriving, with labels still an essential part of peoples lives.
We're inspired by Stan's story and we're sure you will be too!
We're after x9 BIG ideas (just like Stan had all those years ago) and helping to give them that first boost.
Now $100 dollars probably won't go as far today as back in 1935, so we're offering £1,000 to take the first step!

Great ideas can come from anywhere, and we want to hear yours!
We're after anyone who has an idea for a business, product or service that they are ready to take beyond just a thought.
Whether you're:
- Selling locally on weekends but dreaming bigger
- Ready to launch and need funds for a website or logo
- Stuck in a 9-5 and looking for a reason to start
If you meet the entry criteria, go for it!
Entry criteria
To enter, simply complete the details on the competition entry page.
- Entries will be open from 1st April 2025 and will close midnight 31st May 2025.
- You must be 18 years old.
- You will have an idea for a business, product or service that you are looking to move forward with.
- You will reside in one of the countries listed here and have a banking account residing in your country of residence.
- You will be happy to engage in content creation with the competition owner 'Avery' and have details about your idea shared where appropriate and agreed.
Other than that, answer all of the questions to complete your entry.
How do I win?
After submitting your entry, after the closing date it will be reviewed by a panel of judges who will consider all valid entries.
The awarding criteria will be based on the strength of the idea, how clear the next steps you'd take would be and how you'd use Avery to make this happen.
Please note that whilst all entries are valid, it is possible that entries with more complete answers and thought out ideas will likely make it easier for the judges to understand.
Once finalists have been shortlisted, using the email provided on your entry, an Avery representative will reach out to you to discuss next steps.
The prize will be paid in installments, with 25% being paid within two weeks of being notified as being a winner. The second part (75%) will be paid during the first two weeks of September. The second installment is based on making substantial progress and have been deemed to be supporting Avery in the intervening period. Full breakdown can be found in terms & conditions.
