Popular questions about photo paper
The special coating guarantees precise ink application and high print quality. The printout receives colour brilliance, depth of field and the unmistakable photo gloss. In contrast, with uncoated all-purpose paper there is an inaccurate ink application, and the ink is not fixed and can blur.
Depending on the use, there are different quality levels from which you can choose. For everyday use or test prints you can use cheaper paper, for photos to stick in albums or insert in photo frames we recommend at least medium quality. For special requirements and occasions as well as artistic photographs, we also have particularly high-quality premium paper in our range.
The special papers for the respective printer technology work specifically for this type of application (laser or inkjet) because they have been developed and optimised to meet the requirements of these requirements. They produce excellent results on the appropriate printer technology. Special papers are essential for all high-quality and demanding prints with high resolution. Since printer technologies are developing rapidly and are becoming increasingly complex, it is all the more advisable - in view of a jam-free and device-friendly printer run - to use special papers. Inkjet technology:
Ink drops come onto the paper surface
It is essential for a good printing result that the ink dries quickly (which is ensured by a coating with a high ink absorption capacity)
Good Inkjet Paper Requirements:
- Good ink absorption capacity (to quickly bind moisture)
Colour laser technology:
- Toner is transferred to the paper using electrostatic charges
- Toner is fixed on the paper with pressure and heat (temp. Up to 200 ° C)
Requirements for a good colour laser paper:
- Coating with optimised electrical properties (for toner transfer)
- Excellent heat resistance
- an optimised moisture content of the paper (due to the heat)
The layer side is always on top of the pack; this is also indicated on the packaging. The coated side is whiter; simply bend the paper from the back to the front and the difference is immediately visible.
Printouts are immediately smudge-proof on all inkjet papers and inkjet photo papers from Avery, ie the colours are fixed in the coating. The water contained in the inks is first absorbed by the paper and then evaporates. Depending on the ink chemistry, paper and room conditions (temperature, humidity) this can take a few hours. Only then should the printouts be placed in an album, a picture frame or a foil cover.

In any case, please refer to the operating instructions for the printer. Depending on the printer type, select "thick paper", "cardboard" or "labels" in the printer screen. For some printers, it is not enough to select the appropriate setting only via the printer driver, but this must be set on the printer itself. Always have the Premium and colour Laser Photo papers fed through the sheet feeder of your printer. Fan the printed paper stack a few times slowly before printing on the back.
