These days there are 5 R’s when it comes to the environment, but many people still focus on the main three of reduce, re-use and recycle. During Green Office Week 2019, Avery UK aims to generate more awareness of all five to highlight that there is still more that Brits can do to be greener.
There are several variations of the 5 R’s but during the week, Avery UK will be exploring refuse, reduce, reuse, repurpose and recycle.
Choose to refuse

You should only buy items for the office that you absolutely need to. Why not start a ‘purchasing protocol’ this week where you are only allowed to buy essential items? And before any purchases are made in the office, colleagues are asked to research whether there is an eco-friendly alternative.
Throughout the day, Avery will be exploring the wide range of products which have eco-friendly options available, with some surprising results. Â
Spruce and reduce
Tuesday 14th May 2019
Get ready for a big declutter in your office and reduce the amount of stuff you actually have. What could be passed on to someone else that would prevent them from buying new? Avery will be encouraging offices to think responsibly when getting rid of items to reduce the amount of waste going to landfill.
During the day Avery UK will also be exploring how the UK is also aiming to reduce the amount of plastic by highlighting some of the recent stories in the news. When it comes to decluttering, Avery has a wealth of expertise and will be sharing these with followers throughout the day.
It’s big news to re-use

Avery wants office workers to consider that almost everything we buy and use in our daily lives ends up being thrown away at some point. We need to re-use instead of replacing, where possible, so we can reduce our environmental impact.
Avery will be creating awareness of how it can help office workers to re-use old packaging, old files, old boxes etc using its products and software.
A responsible repurpose

This is simple and can be loads of fun too. Upcycling is becoming more and more the norm and during today Avery would love to hear about and see products which you have re-purposed instead of throwing away.
Avery will be sharing our favourite creations found online to share some inspiration.
Recognise and recycle

Avery will create awareness of the fact that recycling should be the final thing to consider when all other options have been explored. They will also reveal some of the key recycling stats from their recent survey with Avery customers.
Avery will be asking followers to share pictures of their own recycling stations to inspire others and show how easy it is.
