What does FSC stand for? What does FSC stand for?
Labels marked with the FSC logo contain wood from well managed forests in accordance with the rules of the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). To get this trademark, the wood must be from a forest which is well managed according to strict environmental, social and economic standards. The Forest Stewardship Council is an international, non-profit association that brings people together to find solutions which promote responsible management of the world's forests.

during the recycling process?
Unused Avery eco-friendly labels and liners can be disposed of along with your other recyclable waste paper via your usual recycling method. Paper based labels and siliconised liners can be used for the pulp when making recycled papers. During this process all components which can't be used in paper making, such as the adhesive and silicone, are filtered out and disposed of in an environmentally friendly way.

Why is the adhesive eco-friendly? Why is the adhesive eco-friendly?
Avery eco-friendly labels are coated with anemulsion adhesive. This is a water based adhesive that doesn't contain any harmful solvent and therefore it is safe for the environment or human beings. It can even bestuck on non-fatty foodstuff. For example you could stick the label to an apple, peel it off again and still eat the apple without any health risks.

What does ECF mean? What does ECF mean?
We bleach our paper to makes sure that the Avery labels are bright white to meet our consumers' needs. All Avery eco-friendly labels contain paper components in which no harmful elementary chlorine gas is used in the bleaching process. The labels are bleached Elementary Chlorine Free. This is a bleaching process, which uses oxygen, chlorine dioxide (ClO2) and hydrogen peroxide instead of the harmful elementary chlorine gas.
