How to print on Avery Labels that are not A4 in size

Printing is easy with free software from Avery. We have been developing template and software solutions for over 20 years and we offer various free tools to help you print including Design & Print software, templates for Microsoft Word, downloadable Avery Wizard for use with Microsoft® Office® and apps for tablets and mobiles. To get the most out of Avery products we recommend using our free Design & Print Software available online or as a desktop download at avery.co.uk/print. Here you’ll find all sorts of inspiring pre-designs, templates and creative tools. Design & Print enables you to create beautiful looking labels, cards and transfers to suit any occasion. Whether you need to run a mail merge, send a package to an old friend, create fun stickers, some new business cards or you simply need some smart labels to organise your office or home, Avery Design & Print can help you make them look great and print easily.

Step 1: Open your printers' properties

Whether you are printing from a Word  or a PDF generated by Avery Design & Print software, before pressing print, open up your printer settings/properties

Step 2: Adjust the paper settings

Go to Page Size and choose Custom.
For an A6 sheet: Make your width 105mm and your height 148mm
For an A5 sheet: Make your width 148mm and your height 210mm
Check your printer manual for more information on printing custom paper sizes.

Step 3: Change the paper type

Adjust printer settings to optimise print quality. For example, select the Labels setting when printing labels, or choose Photo Quality for optimum printing results.

Step 4: Choose paper path

Ensure that you have the rear paper tray feed selected and that your page scaling is set to None.

Step 5: Print a test

Always test print on a plain sheet of paper. Hold the printed sheet behind the Avery product to check the alignment of your layout. Slight adjustments to the layout may be necessary. If the entire sheet is slightly misaligned, adjust the top and/or left margins slightly if your program has this feature. When satisfied with the layout, print on to the Avery product.
