1.

Can I print on both sides of my cardstock product?

Yes, all Avery card products can be printed on both sides except for C32011 Clean Edge Business Cards which have a special coating on the back of each sheet which allows for each card to have a clean edge without any perforations. Avery has come up with a solution for our consumers who prefer to print on both sides... Double-Sided Quick&Clean(TM) Business Cards.

2.

Are the envelopes that come with Avery Greeting Cards printable?

We do not recommend printing on envelopes. Envelopes can very easily skew and get caught in any printer which can cause damage. We recommend trying mailing labels. Avery manufactures both standard recipient and return address labels in white and clear.

3.

Can I print to the edge on Avery business cards?

Most Avery business cards are manufactured with 10 per page with each card touching the card surrounding it which does not allow for print to the edge capability. Avery does manufacture business cards for consumers who prefer to print an entire image on their business cards and these cards are manufactured with 8 per page without any of the cards touching each other which allows for full bleed printing capability.

1.

Can I print a laser printer product with an ink jet printer?

If the product package is labeled "Laser/InkJet" or "ink jet compatible," the product can be printed through either ink jet or laser printers.

2.

Can clear laser labels be printed with an ink jet printer?

Our clear label products are made with polyester film face-stocks. Ink jet and laser technologies require entirely different coatings for printing on films. Clear laser labels meet all of the requirements to run on standard desktop laser printers. They can not be printed with an ink jet printer. Avery Dennison has developed a full line of ink jet supplies to meet the special demands of ink jet printers.

3.

What type of label adhesive is used for laser labels?

The adhesive used on white laser labels is an acrylic emulsion-based permanent adhesive. This type of adhesive is suitable for general purpose adhesion to most papers, envelopes, corrugated shipping containers, file folders, bare and painted metal, polypropylene and polyethylene bags.  The clear laser label products use a solvent based permanent adhesive which is also suitable for general purpose applications.

4.

Can I print a few labels and save the label sheet for future printing?

Avery Dennison recommends that a sheet of labels be fed only once through a laser or ink jet printer. Our guarantee of jam-free performance extends only to a sheet of labels that has been though a laser printer a single time. The heat and tight paper path of a laser printer can cause the label to curl after multiple passes through the printer.

5.

What is the shelf life of your labels?

This can vary greatly depending on environmental conditions (heat, humidity, etc...) but usually 2-3 years. However, if a person's definition of "shelf life" is really "life span," Laser & Ink Jet labels have a life span of 10 -15 years.

6.

The toner does not stick on the label. Why is that?

Please check your printer driver settings. For labels and thick paper you should always use printer driver settings for labels, cardboard, thick material or similar.

Can I use the White T-Shirt Transfer on dark textiles?

Trimmers and Guillotines

1.

My trimmer isn’t cutting properly, what can I do?

If your trimmer or guillotine isn’t cutting properly it could be leaving a ragged edge, have a blunt blade, be tearing or folding the paper or the blade may not be rotating.  You should call the Consumer Centre on 0800 374036 for a new blade or cutterhead.

2.

My product is not cutting cleanly on laminated sheets or other non-standard materials?

Avery Trimmers and Guillotines are designed for cutting conventional paper.  Although they will cut many different materials we can only recommend and guarantee that the products will cut paper to the specified grade and quantity.

3.

I have broken or lost parts for my trimmer/guillotine, where can I get new parts?

We offer a spare parts service.  You can call 0800 374036 to order yours.

4.

I have bought a guillotine but I am left handed and am finding it difficult to cut paper.  Any suggestions?

Unfortunately Avery guillotines are only designed for use by right handed people.  Avery produces various ranges of paper trimmers which are designed for use by both right and left handed people.  For more information please call the Avery Consumer centre on 0800 374036.

5.

How do I stop the paper folding or tearing when I use my Avery Guillotine?

It depends where it is folding or tearing.  If it is at the handle end you can try placing the paper under the guard and then firmly press on it to hold the paper in place.  Slowly push the blade inwards towards the board with a slight pressure and push down with a quick motion.  Pushing the blade slowly increases the chance of a poor cut.  If it is folding or tearing at the hinge end the blade needs to be replaced.  Call the Consumer Centre on 0800 374036.

6.

What should I do if the guard is cracked on my guillotine?

You should call 0800 374036 to arrange a replacement guard.

7.

I have bought an Avery Compact Trimmer.  How do I cut A4 paper in half?

The compact trimmers are designed to be compact so the baseboard is not big enough to print the 148.5mm required for A5.  You will need to purchase an A4 or A3 trimmer from another Avery paper trimmer range.

8.

The white nylon disc is broken on my Precision Trimmer, how do I get a replacement?

If you call 0800 374036 we will be able to arrange a replacement for you.

9.

The cutterhead on my trimmer is not working as it should be.  What is the problem?

It may be that the cutterhead is stiff; the rotary cutter is sitting on the top of the board or is cutting into the pressure pad; the cutterhead is spinning or rotating around the guide rail.  Check to see if the blade has ridden up onto the board as this may have happened through overloading the trimmer.  If this has happened remove the screws from one end of the guide rail and then remove the two screws on the underside of the side mould and it will come away.  Loosen the screw at the other end of the guide rail then re-sit the rotary blade overhanging the edge of the fixed blade on the base board.  Replace the side mould and screws and this should make your trimmer work properly.  If the rotary blade is damaged the cutterhead will need to be replaced.  You may also need to replace the pressure pad. For more help with this call 0800 374036.
